Saddleworth’s Family Favourite
At Scouthead & Austerlands you are likely to see around 70 brass bands throughout the evening. World class champion- ship bands such as Brighouse & Rastrick, Black Dyke Mills & The Fairey Band regularly appear, together with a host of bands from the four corners of the United Kingdom plus frequent visits by bands from overseas.
Established in 1978 and run entirely by unpaid volunteers, we have four decades of experience in the planning of Whit Friday band contests. Considered to be one of Saddleworth’s premier contests, it is a well organised family-orientated occasion. It is also a popular venue with members of the brass band community, who welcome an opportunity to meet fellow contestants to participate and enjoy an evening of musical entertainment.
The contest site at Dawson’s Field is considered a safe environment for bands and local people to meet friends & family. Food and drink is available on the field with a BBQ, Tea Tent/Sweet Shop, Beer Marquee plus adequate toilet and first- aid facilities.
