The main road through Greenfield, Chew Valley Road, is closed to through traffic and so there is an excellent opportunity to watch the bands performing a street march along a long 200 metres stretch.
The Greenfield Contest is held on Ladhill Playing Fields, where bands play on a proper elevated stage. This is the perfect location to set up a family picnic. There is a children’s playground in the park in case they get bored(!) listening to all the brass bands that will be playing throughout the afternoon and evening.
Ladhill Playing Field is also close to the King William IV pub, known locally as the King Bill, a popular Greenfield hostelry. There are plenty of other eateries along Chew Valley Road including a Tesco Express, and street food is available in the King William IV car park. There is also a local Premier Store further along Chew Valley Road.
Disabled parking is on Chew Valley Road next to The King William IV pub (OL3 7DD). Vehicles must be removed at 10.00 pm and access is only from the Holmfirth end of the village.
